The Gateway Resort Damdama Lake: Weekend Getaway

Spread across 20 acres of land with huge lush green grounds, The Gateway Resort Damdama Lake Gurgaon is located at a distance of 45kms from IGIA (Indhira Gandhi International Airport). To get away from the hustle of everyday life, weekend getaways are popular among residents of NCR and this luxury resort is much sought after for the same. We were a group of 10-12 people and decided to host a get together at The Gateway Resort for the weekend with close family. Started out as a road trip, google maps led us straight to the destination and we reached in approximately 1.5 hours. Upon arrival we checked in our baggage with a thorough security check and entered the hotel reception which is a vast area with tall glass walls, stone pillars and a lot of wooden detailing in the interiors of the place. The reception area is impressively designed in a manner such that the lush greens around are visible in a 360 degree view and gives the effect of sitting in a tree house, but one with glass walls. The resort offers 78 rooms falling in the categories of Deluxe Resort Room, Gateway Suite and Superior Resort Room (with courtyard view & garden view). Rooms & Room Service:

We stayed in the Gateway suites which are very spacious for two people occupancy. The suite includes a dressing and bathing area which is designed to keep the experience close to nature with glass walls and nature-inspired interiors.  There’s also a spacious seating area with the view of lush green gardens outside with an added door that opens towards the gardens. The room is well-equipped with all things in urban luxury and are pleasantly comfortable. Even though the rooms are set apart at a certain distance, situated like two separate villas, the room service at The Gateway Resort in Gurgaon is very prompt and we had no bad experiences.

Amenities & Recreational Activities:

The whole idea behind this resort is to create an abode where you can stay secluded from the city life, for a couple of days surrounded by nature, unwind and unplug from the hustle of daily life. So, there are a lot of recreational activities that you can indulge in with a group or alone. There’s a separate swimming pool area called Wavelength which is quite well maintained and again surrounded by lots of greenery. We as a group had a great time in the game room where we played a variety of indoor games (no added charges). The boys also enjoyed playing an evening play of basketball at the court. The resort also offers spa & salon services along with a dedicated fitness room. I saw a lot of families around traveling with kids enjoying their leisurely evening time in the kids play area.

For all our dining experiences, we did not order any meal in the room. The breakfast buffet was included in the stay as per the usual, had a good variety of food options to choose from and live counters, nicely catered all guests. However, the place was quite crowded but the staff was helpful to organize a big table to seat our group. The dinner meal was again a buffet that we opted for, they served fresh breads on the table with a delicious Indian meal. The overall dining experience at the resort was quite delightful, though not exceptional. But it was worth the price we paid and added value to our enjoyable stay at the property.

Overall Stay & Recommendations:

I would highly recommend this place for a weekend getaway from Delhi, Noida, Faridabad or other surrounding areas in NCR. Especially big groups like ours would really enjoy the whole setting and have a rejuvenating experience. The better months to visit would be ones with pleasant weather which are likely to be October-March. There is a nearby attraction the Damdama Lake however, even if you skip on it, you wouldn’t be missing out on much. You can rather just stay in the resort premises, unwind and relax while enjoying the many recreational activities or just a leisurely evening stroll. The night sky is lovely to look at and quite clear as compared to the city sky.  If you’re still looking for getaway options, check out the experience of our weekend getaway to Neemrana Fort Palace.
