For a quick monsoon getaway in 2021, we chose Goa as our destination since the monsoon here is exceptionally gorgeous and visit-worthy. The Leela Goa is rated as the top most stays in South Goa and was on our go-to list since a long time. Read all about our stay at the Luxury hotels across the world here.
Located on the Sal River in Goa, Riverside is known as one of the best fine dining Italian experiences in South Goa and we decided to give it a try on an impromptu date night. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor (right besides the river) dining and is operational from 7pm onwards up to 10:30pm. Since my visit was scheduled in July’21, the outside seating was closed for the season due to the rain and only a private dinner was organised for a couple’s special day. Since it was surprisingly chilly that night, we were happy to be taking a seat inside and enjoyed the classic old school interiors and dim lighting with tables lined with white table cloth. You can either walk to the restaurant or a club car from the hotel will drop you there in a few minutes (If you are a resident at the hotel).
The food service started with an assorted bread basket along with herbed butter and olives and everything in there tasted fresh and delicious. Our server suggested that we try the truffle ravioli and it was truly the best thing we ate that evening. The pizza is made in a wood-fired oven with a regular crust and good amount of toppings with a size of 12 inches. Even though the pizza was going to be the best dish according to us, unfortunately the cheese was slightly overcooked but the overall taste was fine. For dessert we went with the quintessential Italian favourite, Tiramisu. It was a perfect portion size with well-balanced sugar to rum ratio which mostly is unbalanced at most places. The menu has a valid number of options to choose from for a speciality cuisine restaurant with available customisation options.
The service here definitely stood out for me. Not only was our female attendant/server courteous, well-informed but also had excellent communication skills. She guided us on the portion sizes and made sure we ordered up to our liking and taste. A floor manager visited in the middle of the meal to find out if we were having a good time and the food was up to our liking.
Summing It Up!
Cost For Two (Without Alcohol) : INR3500
Ambience: 3.5/5 (Here’s hoping next time the outside seating space is open too)
Would I Recommend: Absolutely give it a try if you are staying at The Leela Goa! If you are a non-resident, I’d recommend a visit when the outside dining by the river is open.
