About & How To Reach: Located on the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway, Neemrana Fort Palace is basically a 500 years old historical ruin turned into a well-developed & furnished resort. With various levels cut into the Aravalli hill, they have 77 rooms and suites located at various distinct locations. The basic philosophy of the Neemrana group that I understand is to develop properties in culturally rich locations accompanied by warm hospitality and a touch of modern amenities, all of which make for a vibrant stay to bask in the historical heritage and past of the country. Check out the entire photo gallery of our stay here.
The locations are chosen in a way such that the resort is an all-inclusive place for you to spend the entire holiday. The nearest airport is the Delhi airport and the palace is located at a drive of approximately 2.5 hours from Delhi (128 kms approx.), so you can opt for any road transport of your choice. If you are not looking for budget travel on this trip, I would suggest you do not take a bus & instead hire a private cab for convenience on the route. The nearest Railway station is also approximately an hour away from the Neemrana Fort Palace by road.
Rooms, Dining & Other Amenities: Post the check-in with the helpful and prompt staff, we went up to the rooms for which we crossed the gardens, passed various levels of the hills involving a good amount of uphill walk. Even though the staff is really courteous and available to assist you at all times, due to the afore mentioned reason I wouldn’t recommend this particular palace resort for the elderly or people traveling with infants as well. The other Amenities at Neemrana Fort Palace include two swimming pools, restaurant with rooftop seating and an excellent view, a grand Amphitheater, a health spa and well-manicured gardens to spend your evenings or early mornings. There is also a provision of Zip lining for the adventurous souls out there!
When it comes to dining, Neemrana Fort does not provide for in-room dining experience. Personally, I do feel like in-room dining should always be an option however, with how the rooms are situated, it becomes practically impossible to efficiently serve into rooms at such distinct locations. Thus, this becomes a consequence of the experience of living on a palace carved out on the hills. The buffets for guests are laid at various select locations depending upon the season and time of the year. The local ‘Rajasthani’ cuisine that they serve is delightful if you are the kind who is open to experimenting with new flavors and techniques of cooking. Our group of friends relished the ‘laal maas’, ‘choorma’ and ‘gatta curry’ from the local dishes they offered.
Destination Wedding: For the past few years, as destination weddings became increasingly popular among the Indian youth, Neemrana became especially renowned as a venue for theme-based destination weddings. Having attended a destination wedding at Neemrana Fort Palace, I personally think that the palace is highly picturesque as a venue and makes for a unique experience for your family and friends. Check out the complete photo gallery of our visit & destination wedding we attended.
The huge Amphitheatre is the perfect venue to organize the ‘Sangeet’ function or other pre-wedding events that could be planned under the open sky and stars, of course only after a thorough weather check. The open lush green & well-manicured gardens make for a dreamy location for the day pre-wedding functions or even for a serene day wedding. The palace rooms are decorated with antiques, carved windows, traditional style furniture & décor, all of which will add to the theme of your wedding.
Overall Stay: I do recommend a visit to this palace during the months that are more forgiving and pleasant so that your stay isn’t disturbed by the scorching summer or extremely wet monsoon months. Also when it comes to room interiors, you simply get what you pay but it only comes without a television. A weekend getaway from the hustling city life (probably with a group of friends or your partner) for a quick change of mind to Neemrana fort palace during the winter months sounds just fine.
