About : Owned by Las Vegas Sands and built under the guidance of architect Moshe Safdie, Marina Bay Sands is an iconic architectural wonder that is renowned all over the world. You think of Singapore, you think of the magnificent rooftop infinity pool, hence we decided our stay at Singapore would be incomplete without ticking this infinity pool & luxury hotel off our bucket list. Check-In : Upon arrival, welcomed by the staff at the door, the hotel opens up into a huge reception that gives you a peek into the grandeur of the place. Our check in took about 10-15 minutes only to my surprise even though the hotel was relatively crowded for the season. We located our rooms with much ease, also for information the hotel lifts do not work without your room cards for security reasons, so you have to practically carry them everywhere with you. As soon as we entered the room, we straight walked up to the huge window that had a view of the city. The thrill of standing next to that window watching the world right beneath you with just a glass windowpane in front is truly unparalleled. However, I think the room interiors do require redecoration now with time since they rather seemed a bit dull during certain parts of the stay. Other amenities in the room were also quite nice.
In-Room Services: Once ready to head out, ordered in a quick in-room meal since we found ‘samosas’ on the menu along with a club sandwich. Both the things were promptly delivered, presented beautifully and the quantity being more than sufficient for two people. A special mention for the staff who take your in-room queries/orders, they are highly courteous, helpful and professional. After spending a day shopping at the Orchard Road (which is btw the retail heart of Singapore), ordered another in-room meal since we were pretty exhausted. And O what a delight to have found Yellow ‘Dal’ & Rice on the menu. Even though it is a bit differently prepared than what we are used to eating in our own country, still tasted great and just the light meal we needed after such long days.
Infinity Pool: Finally, the time arrived to take a plunge into the famous rooftop Infinity Pool. Once you reach the topmost floor of the building, take your time to enjoy the beautiful birds eye view of the city from there. Also, since the infinity pool is exclusively for hotel guests only, the entry in the pool area is with your cards only and you might find a very short que there. For obvious reasons, the pool is going to be swarming people and surroundings might not be as neat. Nonetheless you’d manage to find space to enjoy the spectacular pastel sunset hues reflecting in the pool with infinity view of water meeting the sky with the sharp Singaporean skyline. Truly a memorable experience and the pleasant weather too happened to have added cherry on the cake that evening.
Dining: Even though Marina Bay Sands has numerous dining options and you will most likely find something of your preference very easily, we dined at the LAVO Italian Restaurant And Rooftop Bar for dinner and it was delightful. The pasta was customized according to our liking, alongside the flatbread pizza and complimentary breads paired perfectly with red wine. The portions are well sufficient for two people and the staff was quite courteous , a luxurious wonderful evening indeed!
Overall Stay: Living at the Marina Bay sands is like living in a mini city itself. With the extensive entertainment options, interconnected mall, luxury brand boutiques/stores & the amusing night life will all keep you well entertained all throughout your stay. Even though at the same price you might enjoy better luxury at certain other luxury hotels since they would be less crowded and easier the manage, but there isn’t anything like this experience of staying at the Marina Bay Sands. Try getting a room on the uppermost floors as the view gets only more magnificent with higher altitudes. I highly recommend trying this hotel out if you are willing to spend all that money!
