Self-care is as significant as it could be in today’s time. Sensory, emotional, physical, spiritual and a lot of other good self-care practices can ensure much better productivity and mental health. A part of self-care is taking care of your skin and body. So, a while back I made it a daily habit to indulge into a good skincare regime because there’s no denying that a good face mask, or a refreshing mist spray, or a relaxed body massage with essentials oil, do make you feel good! Hence, began the search for good products and I fortunately stumbled across the Innisfree store in DLF Mall Of India (the good old pre-covid) days.
Founded in the year 2000 by the renowned AmorePacific group, Innisfree is a Korean beauty brand that claims to be Korea’s first all-natural brand that offers skin care, makeup, body & hair products. The entire brand is based around the concept as stated in their words, “the pure island where clean nature and healthy beauty coexist in harmony.” October 2013 marked its presence in the Indian territory with the opening of its first store in Khan Market, Delhi.
If you have been to an Innisfree store, you know that the sheet masks section is most likely to catch your eye. Lined with beautifully packed masks showing fresh natural ingredients on their packaging along with descriptions of areas they work on. Sheet masks became one of the first few products that I purchased from Innisfree. I’ve used Aloe vera, cucumbers, tomatoes, rice and other natural ingredients-based sheet masks before. However, recently I came across the Hyaluronic Acid sheet mask at the Innisfree store and it easily became my absolute go-to favorite. Usual masks can be very unforgiving if used for wrong skin types or wrong duration of time. Sheet masks on the other hand give skin a good rest and make that the skin is drenched in active serums and in turn feels plump & hydrated.
The next product I purchased that day was a Green Tea Foam Cleanser and have been using it now for about 2 year straight. The product has dense foam, cleanses deep and green tea extracts feel super refreshing on the skin. Having a good cleanser that suits your skin types is the beginning of a good skincare regime and once you’ve found it, don’t let it go. Since this product became my favorite, we later purchased the Green Tea morning cleanser and as the name suggests, it is great for a light cleanse in the morning or between the day. The morning cleanser leaves a subtle hydrated glow on the skin and will best work well for dry skin types.
Like most skincare brands, Innisfree gave us our free samples of their products to try (valid on a minimum purchase amount) and that’s how I first used the Innisfree Jeju Orchid Enriched Essence (Post which I bought a full-sized bottle). It contains jeju green bean, oats and hyaluronic acid which give a firming texture to the skin. It is a thick serum that gets fully absorbed in the skin and instantly hydrates it. For summer months I only use this essence and skip the moisturizer since it’s not required. It also claims to have anti-aging properties and uneven skin tone treatment, for both of these concerns you have to use any product for a good amount of time such that they get enough time to work on the skin.
A toner is the second basic skincare product that you should have in your bag after a cleanser. As the lockdown started to ease nationwide, I decided to indulge into retail therapy (online, duh!) and re-stocked the toner. Tried a new Innisfree product, the Aloe Revital Skin Mist and was very happy with it. Some toners can be really harsh on the skin but as I read in the description of the product by the company, this product is “free of colorant, mineral oil, artificial fragrances, animal ingredients and imidazolidinyl urea.” A couple of spritz on your face, tap them in for better absorption and the skin feels very hydrated and alive.
Face Masks : Hydrating & Charcoal
I love trying different face masks and the best thing about Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Masks is that they are pretty straightforward with what they offer. I’ve used the hydrating & purifying color clay masks and they both work pretty well. The purifying mask basically turns into a cleanser once it dries out so you don’t have to cleanse your face before. It makes the skin appear fresh, tightened and also deep cleansed. The hydrating mask works very well for me on days the skin feels like it’s lacking life due to tiredness. The aqua blue color is very soothing to the eyes and does the job of hydrating really well. The best part is that these masks can be used for multi-tasking and on different areas of your face that have different concerns.
Sunscreen is a product that really will define what your skin is going to feel and look like 20 years from now. I can personally vouch for it, sunscreen works! So, finding one that suits your skin type and that you can wear under makeup is a task. Innisfree offers a wide range of sunscreens to choose from, water proof, daily use, anti-pollution, watery lightweight, daily wear and all with SPF50+ PA++++ protection from UV Rays. You will have to choose a sunscreen that suits your particular skin type. Best would be to figure out what your skin type is (dry, oily, acne prone etc), and then the occasion (daily, under makeup, water activities etc) that you are looking to wear your sunscreen. Sunscreen also definitely tops the list of my must-have travel beauty essentials.
Micellar Oil Water
Removing makeup at the end of the day looks like the most tedious task anyway and with bad makeup removers, it becomes hectic! The Innisfree My Makeup Cleanser Micellar Oil Water is so forgiving and comfortable to use as it is a mixture of cleansing oil and micellar water. It removes the makeup in a swipe or two, yes even that waterproof mascara! My most basic concern with makeup removers is that they can cause much irritation in the eyes, however this one does not do that at all! I use the washable/reusable makeup remover pads (which btw are environment-friendly, gentle on the skin as well as great value for money) with micellar water on it, and ending the day becomes a much easier task.
Bija Cica Balm
Saved the best for the last! This product has been so promising for my main skin concern with irritated skin. Every now and then there appeared tiny red bumps on my skin specially when I have been out and about all day. It could have been the pollution, dust or maybe some allergy but they did disappear in a few hours or a day. The staff at Innisfree heard this concern and suggested me to buy the Innisfree Bija Cica Balm Ex which to be honest I was reluctant to buy at first. But this product perfectly works and delivers its claims of protecting skin against skin irritants and relieving irritated skin. A must-have skin care product if you have sensitive skin or similar concerns.
I highly recommend Innisfree if you are looking for products that are effective, gentle on the skin and as well as do not burn a whole in the pocket when you plan to re-use them. I always look forward to trying a new product every time and honestly, I have not been disappointed yet. Though I have yet to try the makeup line by Innisfree. Please note all skin types are different and products that work for me may or may not work for you. This post is NOT sponsored however it contains few affiliate links.
